Chungnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services, field evaluation meeting for new wolfberry variety 'Hwabo'

The Chungnam Institute of Agricultural Technology held an on-site evaluation meeting for the new variety 'Hwabo' at a goji berry farm in Daechi-myeon, Cheongyang County, on the 21st. About 50 people, including goji berry farmers and officials from related organizations, attended the evaluation meeting to check the growth characteristics, yield, and suitability for mechanical harvesting of Hwabo. According to the Chungnam Institute of Agricultural Technology, Hwabo is a tetraploid self-compatible variety that can be fertilized without pollination, making it suitable for summer greenhouse cultivation. The fruit is long-oval in shape, uniform in appearance, excellent in color, and has a high yield. The fruit flesh is firm and has good detachment properties, making it suitable for vibration-type mechanical harvesting, and the fruit stem separates easily during harvesting, significantly reducing labor.
