The South Chungcheong Province Fisheries Resources Research Institute has released 20 million young prawns into the West Sea coast as part of an artificial hatching initiative. The prawns, a variety called Daeja, are expected to grow to around 40g by fall and contribute to increased income for fishermen. The institute has released a total of 314.3 million shrimp, crabs, and octopuses into the West Sea coast of South Chungcheong Province since 2006, and plans to continue releasing economically viable seeds.
