Peru's citrus exports, including mandarins and oranges, saw a 37% increase in 2020, reaching a historical high of 262 million dollars. This growth is attributed to the global demand for citrus fruits, especially mandarins, due to their antioxidant properties and vitamin C content, which are particularly beneficial during the COVID-19 pandemic. The United States, Netherlands, Canada, China, and Russia were the main markets for these exports. Peru's production of mandarins and oranges has been on a steady rise since 2010, with an annual increase of 9% and 3% respectively. In 2020, the country produced 525,000 tons of mandarins and 553,000 tons of oranges.
