A new law has been passed in Peru to promote the industrialization, commercialization, and export of citrus fruits, highlighting the industry's potential for national interest and high profitability. The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation has reported that Peru's citrus yield is among the best in the southern hemisphere, excluding Brazil, and the industry is primarily located on the coast. The country's trade agreements, including preferential access to major markets and membership in the Andean Community of Nations and Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, are noted for their support in boosting citrus export.
