In 2020, Ireland experienced a 6% increase in fruit imports, reaching a value of US $ 540 million. Peru managed to climb to the 10th spot among Ireland's main fruit suppliers, replacing both the Dominican Republic and Brazil, with exports valued at US $ 14 million, marking a 26% increase from the previous year. Hybrid mandarins were the most imported Peruvian fruit, followed by grapes and then blueberries, with significant increases in both volume and value imported from the previous year. Despite a drop in grape volume and value, and a rise in price, Peru remained the sixth largest supplier of fruit to Ireland. Meanwhile, Peru's position as the third largest supplier was established due to the significant increase in the import of hybrid mandarins and blueberries.
