The largest proportions of the planted area were recorded in the Vales Region, with 75%, and in the Campanha, with 55%. The smallest proportions occurred in the Central-West and South regions, which reached 14% and 28%, respectively. According to Emater/RS-Ascar, these regional variations are related to the water availability of the soil and factors such as feeding strategies adopted by producers, access to agricultural machinery, the scheduling of sowings, and the release of areas previously occupied by winter pastures or other forage crops.
