Butter trees, commonly known as avocado trees, are grown in regions such as Latin and Central America, California, Spain, Australia, South Africa, and Greece, with the first Greek orchard established in Crete in the late 1960s. Despite their widespread cultivation, avocados demand a substantial amount of water and are highly susceptible to drought, posing a significant challenge in the face of global warming.
