Climate drives the development of cassava

The cassava culture presents a resumption of development in different regions of Rio Grande do Sul, according to the Conjunctural Report released by Emater/RS-Ascar this Thursday (1). The recent climatic conditions, especially the increased soil moisture, have favored the vegetative growth of the crops, although there are impacts on the harvest calendar in some localities. In the administrative region of Soledade, the report points to an increase in the development of the crop in recent weeks. However, the harvest of year-old cassava tends to be delayed in this season due to the lower temperatures recorded during spring. In this market, the price paid to the producer varies between R$ 20.00 and R$ 25.00 per 22-kilogram box.
