The California almond industry has experienced a 6% drop in production to 2.6 billion pounds this season, attributed to challenging weather conditions including rain and low temperatures during the critical February flowering and pollination period. This has not only delayed the 2023-24 harvest by two to three weeks for some producers but also led to a slight increase in almond rejection rates, now at 4.2%, due to damage. Despite these setbacks, California remains a key player in the global almond market, continuing to export significant quantities, especially to its largest international markets such as India, Spain, China, the United Arab Emirates, and Germany.
