Brazil: Climate impacts on the peach harvest in Rio Grande do Sul

According to the Emater/RS-Ascar Conjuntural Bulletin, published this Thursday (31), peach production in Rio Grande do Sul is progressing, with the development of fruits and the beginning of the harvest of early varieties in some regions. However, adverse weather conditions, which have affected crops since the dormant phase, have contributed to an increase in the incidence of diseases, which requires additional care on the part of farmers. In the Pelotas region, where peach production is still developing, some early varieties have already begun to be harvested. To minimize the impacts of diseases, producers are intensifying preventive treatments, especially due to the increase in the fruit fly population. The Alert System has been monitoring this pest, guiding farmers on the application of toxic baits for control.
