The Mexican government is inviting companies to participate in the Mexico Pavilion of the Japan International Food and Beverage Fair (FOODEX 2021) through a virtual forum, aiming to promote the diversification of agricultural exports to Japan. In 2019, Mexico's agri-food exports to Japan amounted to $1,265 million, with key products including pork, Persian lemons, avocados, and agave syrup. The government is working towards modernizing and deepening the Free Trade Agreement between Mexico and Japan in agri-food matters and encourages participation from food and agriculture SMEs and state governments. The National Agricultural Council is also planning to increase the number of agricultural products exported to Japan, including beef, bell pepper, and eggplant.
