By Flávia Said Brasília, 21/11/2025 - A study prepared by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) and released this Friday indicates that 37.1% of Brazilian sales to the United States (equivalent to US$ 15.7 billion) are free of surcharges, while exports facing a 50% tariff represent 32.7%. The survey was prepared one day after the United States expanded the list of items exempt from the 40% tariff imposed on Brazil, including beef, coffee, and cocoa. According to the CNI, with this measure, for the first time since August, the volume exported exempt from surcharges exceeds that submitted to the full 50% tariff. The calculations consider data from 2024, based on statistics from the U.S. International Trade Commission. Still, 62.9% of Brazilian sales to the American market remain subject to some type of additional tariff, considering both horizontal and sectoral measures, such as those applied to steel and aluminum.
