COCERAL, the European agricultural trade association, has lowered its 2024 EU/UK grain crop forecast by 1 million tonnes to 295.5 million tonnes, which is still 3.1 million tonnes more than 2023's yield. Wheat production is predicted to fall by 4% to 134.1 million tonnes due to heavy rainfall affecting sowing in northwestern Europe. However, increases are expected in barley and corn production, reaching 61.2 million tonnes and 64.3 million tonnes respectively, with a significant rise anticipated in Spain's output compared to 2023.
