Morocco's pepper production has seen a decline due to colder temperatures and virus pressure, with grower Obeida Mansour reporting a 30-40% drop. The cold temperatures have affected yield, especially in varieties sensitive to viruses. This decrease in production could lead to higher prices in the medium term. The drop in production also aligns with a decrease in demand due to European holidays. However, Moroccan suppliers, including Universal Peppers, plan to continue exporting Californian peppers, particularly the Kapi variety, which is popular in Germany and Eastern Europe. In the first eight months of this year, Morocco set a record for Californian pepper exports, exporting nearly 150,000 tons.
