Cold weather delays tomato fruiting in greenhouses

According to the Economic Bulletin released this Thursday (30) by Emater/RS-Ascar, the cultivation of tomatoes in the Vale Real and Feliz regions, both belonging to the administrative area of Lajeado, maintains a regular performance, with some impacts from climatic conditions on the development of the crops. In Vale Real, the cultivation occurs in greenhouses, and the lower temperatures of the last few months have impaired the development of the plants, causing a delay in the beginning of the harvest. Emater reported that the crop is currently in the fruiting phase and that, so far, no phytosanitary problems have been recorded. In the Feliz region, cherry tomatoes are cultivated throughout the year. According to the bulletin, the production is in full fruiting and harvesting, presenting adequate coloration and good acceptance in the market.
