REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR – Efforts to achieve self-sufficiency in beef in Indonesia enter a new phase with the launch of a new beef cattle cluster "Gama Cattle" resulting from a collaboration between PT Widodo Makmur Perkasa Tbk (WMPP) and the Faculty of Animal Science at Gadjah Mada University (UGM). The release of this cluster was carried out during the 189th Peak of the Livestock and Animal Health Service Month at the Pakansari Stadium, Bogor, on Sunday (21/9/2025).
The government officially designated Gama Cattle as the new beef cattle cluster through Decree of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia No 840/Kpts/HK.150/M/09/2025. Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Sudaryono handed over the decree directly to the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science UGM, Prof Budi Guntoro, and Founder & CEO of WMPP, Tumiyono, witnessed by the Regent of Bogor Rudy Susmanto.
Deputy Minister Sudaryono considers this achievement as an important milestone that demonstrates the strength of collaboration between the private sector and higher education institutions. He is optimistic that this step will accelerate the achievement of self-sufficiency in food, particularly beef.
