The article outlines actions to be taken for the management of chestnut cancer and gall wasp during the summer dry period, with a focus on pruning affected branches and isolating cuts until November, following guidelines from the Escola Superior Agrária de Bragança's Laboratory of Plant Health and Protection. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the parasitoid Torymus sinensis, used for gall wasp control, was not deployed this year, though existing populations are to be maintained with recommended practices such as avoiding cutting green or dry galls, not using insecticides, reducing land mobilization, and introducing vegetation cover and biodiversity to support Torymus and reduce pest and disease pressure.
