In 2020, Peru's exports to China saw an 18% decrease, reaching USD 11,134 million, but China remained Peru's primary trading partner. Only 0.01% of these exports were agricultural, with a total value of USD 1,318 million. However, non-traditional agricultural exports experienced significant growth, increasing by 490% since the FTA's establishment, with notable growth in blueberry, grape, avocado, algae, and tare powder exports. Despite the pandemic, several Peruvian departments continued to exceed USD 10 million in non-traditional exports to China, led by Piura and Lima. The business association ComexPerú emphasized the potential of non-traditional agricultural exports to further boost Peru's income and suggested renegotiating the FTA to improve the trade terms for these products.
