Cocoa prices have reached record highs due to poor weather conditions in West Africa and low supply levels. The most traded cocoa contract in New York for March delivery hit an all-time high of $12,931 per tonne. The International Cocoa Organization expects a better harvest than the previous season, but it may not be enough to replenish stocks. Cocoa reserves were at their lowest in 36 years at the start of the agricultural campaign. Global demand for cocoa is increasing, while production is stagnating.
