In the first two months of 2025, Ecuador outperformed Peru in red pitahaya exports, with significantly higher volumes and values, according to a comparison by Alex Bustos Guerra, president of Green Control LA. Despite exporting less, Peru's average FOB price per kg was lower than Ecuador's, at US$2.81/kg and US$3.68/kg, respectively. The primary markets for Peruvian red pitahaya were Spain, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands, accounting for about 75% of its exports, while Ecuador's main market was the United States, with the European Union making up 10.2% of its red pitahaya market in 2025.
