The Interprofessional Fruit and Vegetable Association of Andalusia, HORTYFRUTA, has raised concerns about the growing competition from third countries in the European fruit and vegetable market. They argue that these countries operate under different environmental and socio-labor conditions, leading to unfair competition and a decrease in the market share of Andalusian, Spanish, and European products. HORTYFRUTA has urged the Administration to strictly regulate imports from these countries and enhance phytosanitary surveillance to prevent the sale of products with high pesticide residues in the EU.
