Brazil's National Supply Company (Conab) has lowered its forecast for the country's 2023/24 soybean and corn crops in its March Crop Report. The soybean crop estimate has been reduced by 2.55 million tons to 146.85 million, while the corn estimate has been cut by 0.94 million tons to 112.75 million. The decrease in corn estimates is largely due to a reduction in safrinha corn acreage, as farmers opted for other crops amid low corn prices. This has resulted in a 14.7% or 15.02 million tons decrease in safrinha corn production from last year. Overall, the 2023/24 corn crop is down 19.14 million tons or 14.5% from the 131.89 million tons produced in 2022/23.
