Netherlands: Consumer price of chicken stable, small price increase for meat processors

The consumer price index for poultry meat was 122 points in July; this is almost the same price level as in May (index 2020=100). This retail price mainly concerns free-range chicken. Ex-slaughterhouse prices on the domestic market increased by one and a half percent in June and July to 145 points. The farm gate price for chicken increased by almost 4 percent to 148 points. This ex-farm gate price concerns regular, fast-growing broilers intended for the food service market and export. In July 2024, the consumer price index for poultry meat was 122 points (2020=100); this is almost the same price level as in May. Prices in the supply chain have increased. The price index for products ex-slaughterhouse domestically increased from 143 to 145 points, an increase of one and a half percent.
