Chili prices in areas such as Indramayu Regency, West Java, and Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan, have surged due to a lack of supply from farmers, with some consumers resorting to buying rotten chilies. The price hike has also impacted other commodities like tomatoes, shallots, and rice. The government is being urged to address these price increases, especially with the fasting month approaching and demand expected to rise. The Deputy Minister of Trade, Jerry Sambuaga, acknowledged the price fluctuations and assured that the government is working to control the prices through the Food Supply and Price Stabilization Program (SPHP).
