A new pig farm in Ezhou City, Hubei Province, China, is making headlines for its modern approach to pork production. The farm, built by Hubei Zhongxin Kaiwei, consists of two 26-storey buildings covering 400,000 m2 and costing over 570 million USD. It is designed to produce 108,000 tons of meat per year. The facility is part of China's strategy to modernize pork production and recover from losses due to African swine fever, which killed up to 100 million pigs. The farm uses advanced technology for efficient feeding, monitoring, and recycling of pig manure. It is among several large-scale industrial pig farms that have been developed in China, aiming to increase pork production and meet the country's demand, which accounts for half of the world's consumption.
