The Negeri Sembilan government, under the leadership of Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, is taking steps to assess the impact of biotoxin contamination in mussels from Port Dickson on the local mussel farming industry. This action comes in response to Singapore imposing restrictions on the distribution and purchase of these mussels due to safety concerns, after the Department of Fisheries Malaysia discovered harmful algae in the mussels, rendering them unsafe for consumption. The state government is committed to supporting the affected fishermen and entrepreneurs, highlighting the significance of the industry for the income of coastal fishermen. Additionally, Aminuddin announced the provision of 16,000 kilograms of beef at a subsidized rate during the Mantai Rayo 2024 programme to further support the local community.
