The European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), set to take effect on January 1, 2025, seeks to prohibit the import of products associated with deforestation, such as coffee, cocoa, rubber, palm oil, beef, wood, and soya. Concerns have been raised by the French animal feed association (SNIA) and other stakeholders regarding the absence of clear implementation guidelines, potential disruptions in supply chains, and increased costs. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called for a suspension of the regulation to address these issues. The European Federation of Compound Feed Manufacturers (FEFAC) has noted significant additional costs for EUDR-compliant soybean products and highlighted varying risks of supply chain disruption across different regions.
