Cooperatives reduce olive oil production to 1.3 million tons

Cooperativas Agroalimentarias de España has reduced the predicted production of olive oil to 1.3 million tons for the 2025-2026 campaign due to a lack of rainfall and high temperatures recorded during the months of September and October. In a statement, the cooperatives have warned that, if the drought situation persists, the harvest will be below the estimate by the Ministry of Agriculture (1.37 million tons). They have recalled that in recent campaigns, the lack of autumn rainfall has been a constant and has affected dryland olive groves, which depend entirely on weather conditions and represent 67.8% of the total olive grove area in Spain. The widespread drop in production in the dryland areas is the main reason why productions are being maintained at lower levels than those announced after the entry into production of new plantations of intensive and super-intensive crops, according to Cooperativas.
