Jeollanam-do Wando County announced that after analyzing the functional components of cordyceps cultivated using abalone as a medium, the cordycepin content in the fruiting body increased by approximately 25 times compared to the existing rice medium. Wando County applied a cultivation method using abalone medium to increase cordycepin content and commissioned the College of Pharmacy at Chungbuk National University to analyze the components, confirming a higher cordycepin content than before. While cordyceps are typically cultivated using rice as a medium, reports suggest that cultivating them on media using edible insects (such as crickets) can significantly increase cordycepin content.
