A forthcoming heat wave across Europe is expected to cause significant damage to spring crops in the southeast, with one week of hot weather already reducing production and two weeks potentially causing serious damage, according to analyst Vincent Braak of Strategie Grains. The European Union's crop monitoring agency, MARS, has reduced its yield estimates for Romania's corn and sunflower crops to below the five-year average due to prolonged dry weather, while western Europe, which has suffered from excessive rainfall, is expected to benefit from the warm and dry conditions. Germany, Denmark, and Poland are also expected to benefit from the hot and sunny weather.
