Brazil: Corn planting reaches 70% of the area planned for Rio Grande do Sul

Planting continued and reached 70% of the projected area, which is 817,521 hectares in RS. The majority of crops are in the germination and vegetative development stage (99%), while 1% have already entered the reproductive period. According to the Conjunctural Information, released this Thursday (10/26) by Emater/RS-Ascar, linked to the State Secretariat for Rural Development (SDR), the period was marked by a greater incidence of sunlight, favoring rapid growth and the vigorous development of plants. Many producers took advantage of the period to apply nitrogen fertilizers in technically appropriate areas, as well as herbicides, aiming to control weeds. In the Frederico Westphalen region, of the 80 thousand hectares, 87% are in the germination and vegetative development phase, and 13% in flowering.
