Corn producer still does not cover total cost in Mato Grosso

According to the weekly analysis of the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea), released on Monday (20), the CPA-MT project estimated in September 2025 the cost of corn for the 2025/26 crop at R$ 3,305.87 per hectare, a monthly increase of 0.32%, resulting from the appreciation of inputs. With this, the Effective Operating Cost (COE) showed an increase of 0.20% compared to August, totaling R$ 4,792.45 per hectare, while the Total Operating Cost (COT) reached R$ 5,381.07 per hectare, an increase of 0.17% over the same period. The Institute detailed that, when analyzing the break-even point of the cost of production indicators and considering the average productivity of the last three crops, of 116.61 bags per hectare, to cover the costs of maintenance, COE, and COT, producers need to negotiate the bag of corn for at least R$ 28.35, R$ 41.10, and R$ 46.15, respectively.
