APM Terminals has introduced a non-intrusive inspection scanner for pineapple containers at the Moín dock in Costa Rica, following a seizure of over two tons of cocaine in pineapple containers in January and February. The scanner is aimed at ensuring the safety and maintaining a positive image of Costa Rican exports, especially pineapples which are susceptible to drug contamination. The initiative was agreed upon by APM Terminals, Canapep, Customs, and the Treasury, and forms part of the government's efforts to support the export sector and combat drug contamination.
