The State Environmental Expertise of Rosprirodnadzor has decided to prevent the Crimean enterprise NIO Marikultura from growing Mediterranean mussels and Pacific oysters in Sevastopol. This decision is due to the refusal of Western countries to consume Russian seafood, which means the products would have to be supplied to the Russian consumer. The expert commission cited various reasons for the negative conclusion, including lack of information about geological and hydrological conditions, pollution of surface waters, and the lack of certificates on pollutant dispersion.
