In 2023, Lower Saxony saw a 2.1% increase in the total harvest volume of bush berries, reaching 11,764 tons, as reported by the Lower Saxony State Office for Statistics (LSN). The cultivated blueberry was the most prevalent species, making up over 84% of the cultivation area. Organic bush berries also saw a 2.1% increase in cultivation area, accounting for 15.5% of the total. The aronia berry has experienced significant growth since 2015, with its cultivation area expanding from 18.1 hectares to 92.7 hectares.
