In 2021, Thuringian companies managed a production area for edible mushrooms spanning about 35,000 square meters, and produced approximately 2,900 tons of mushrooms across 145,000 square meters through multiple use of these areas. The production included shiitake and oyster mushrooms, with each Thuringian household consuming 11 bowls of locally produced mushrooms. The region's mushroom production accounted for 3% of the total German production. All farms operated conventionally and the production method involved.
