Cultivation of cowpea grows in the state with the support of Senar Goiás

In Goiás, in the municipality of Cocalzinho, a traditional crop is gaining prominence among small and medium producers: cowpea, also known as cowpea or green bean. With a quick cycle, low production cost, and a certain market, the cultivation has proven to be a strategic alternative to diversify production, ensure income, and implement crop rotation on properties. Part of this success has a direct relationship with the technical work of Senar Goiás. A producer for over 30 years, Emerich Luís da Silva cultivates cowpea during the rainy season. With 25 hectares, he found in the legume a certain source of income and an efficient rotation alternative for his predominantly cassava and corn production. "This bean has guaranteed sales. It has never lost me money. All my life it has brought a good result," he says.
