Cusco: Agrobiodiversity project promotes the conservation of native crops

To strengthen conservation practices and sustainable use of biodiversity, the Regional Management of Natural Resources and Environmental Management of Cusco is executing the Agrobiodiversity project, which this year will implement 94 demonstration plots with 10 native crops in 47 peasant communities and 33 districts of the provinces of Anta, Paruro, Canas and Acomayo. As part of the project, sustainable agricultural practices and planting techniques focused on the preservation of species such as native potato, oca, mashua, olluco, corn, tarwi, quinoa, cañihua, beans and kiwicha will be promoted.
