A recent government decision, published in the Official Gazette, maintains the customs duty rates for several imported agricultural products, including garlic, almonds, walnuts, bananas, tea, snack sunflowers, and peanuts, to protect and support local production. The President's Decision aims to create a fair market by preventing imports with unusually low unit prices and to shield producers from unfair competition. This decision is part of a larger effort to harmonize import regulations with bilateral trade agreements and EU tariff quotas, set to take effect after 15 days. Additionally, a Presidential Decree lowers customs tax rates for some industrial products to align with the European Union's rates, effective from July 1, in an attempt to lower the costs for industrialists and boost their competitiveness.
