A conference aimed at planning the future development of the milk industry in Tanzania's Tabora region will be held on 31st May, during milk drinking week. The TDB’ Registrar, Dr. George Msallya, has highlighted the week's focus on raising awareness about the health benefits of milk consumption and working towards increasing the national milk drinking rate, which currently is only 62 liters per year per person, far below the WHO recommendation of 200 liters. The conference will also emphasize the potential of dairy cattle keeping to alleviate poverty and stimulate the economy. Additionally, the week will feature activities to enhance dairy farmers' knowledge and skills, promote cooperation, and provide free milk to special groups in the Tabora region.
