Ghana: DEDA distributes improved certified coconut seedlings to farmers within the district

The Dormaa East District Assembly (DEDA) has began free distribution of 20,000 improved certified coconut seedlings to farmers, individuals and institutions within the District. The distribution which is being handled by the District Agriculture Directorate, forms part of government’s Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) and Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) agenda; with the aim of diversifying incomes of beneficiries to ensure rural economic growth through cash crops farming. The beneficiaries whose farms were first inspected and measured by the Agric Directorate to qualify them for specific numbers of the seedlings, were drawn from various communities in the district. The distribution which is expected to be done in two days, started on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
