Delayed due to irregular rains, producers spend the New Year planting peanuts in Brazil

Previously focused exclusively on rotation with sugar cane, peanut cultivation has grown in the country and has become the first option for many producers, who have realized the importance of the crop on the international scene. Brazil is today one of the main exporters of legumes, both the product and the oil, and producers have achieved greater profitability due to the opening to the international market. Currently, 60% of national peanut production is exported and, just like exports, the planting area has been increasing and even doubling in some productive areas. Cultivation is also expanding to other states, such as Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais and Paraná, and is not restricted to São Paulo, where the main producing region is concentrated, in the cities of Tupã and Jaboticabal.
