The Farmers' Union has denounced the overpopulation of wild boars in the Plana Baixa region, which cause considerable damage to the citrus fields in the area by eating the fruit from the trees and destroying the trees, as can be observed in the attached images. The organization detects a growing impact of the damage caused by wild boars on agricultural crops and trees, but also on rural margins and infrastructures, as well as on irrigation facilities, which generates significant economic losses and becomes an evident risk to road safety due to the increase in serious accidents and also to public health, mainly through the transmission of diseases to humans and livestock. The Union reiterates to the Generalitat that it significantly increase in the 2026 budget the allocation assigned to the line of aid for wild boar control, with the aim of covering losses that will continue to increase.
