Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade has unveiled the Draft Outline of Dairy Industry Development Strategy up to 2030, targeting sustainable growth and modernization of the dairy sector. Despite the sector's progress, including increased domestic production and consumption, challenges persist such as high production costs, insufficient raw material supply, limited processing capabilities, and low export prices. The strategy aims to address these issues, enhancing the industry's national economic role and ensuring food security. With domestic milk supply covering only 35-40% of demand, Vietnam's heavy reliance on imports exposes it to global market risks. The strategy, set against the backdrop of Vietnam's global economic integration and the potential of free trade agreements, seeks to navigate these challenges while capitalizing on opportunities for export and market expansion amidst international competition and a shift towards clean and organic products.
