With the aim of strengthening the aquaculture production chain and generating sustainable economic alternatives, the National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (Devida) initiated the process of breeding paco fish at the Amazon Fish Breeding Center of the Vraem Aquaculture Cooperative (Acuacoops), located in the district of Pangoa, Junín region. In this first stage, 250,000 postlarvae were planted to obtain fry that will be distributed among 330 fish farming families from Pangoa, Mazamari, and Río Tambo. The initiative seeks to guarantee quality fry, strengthen the production chain, and generate sustainable economic alternatives in the area. Devida's aquaculture specialist, Edgar Vilca, highlighted that the breeding of paco fish will allow fish farmers to have quality fry and ensure the sustainability of the fish meat production activity in their aquaculture units.
