South Korea: Distribute agricultural technology information sheets to expand kiwifruit exports

The Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Agricultural Research and Extension Services (Director Sang-hwan Ko) announced that it will produce and distribute field-use agricultural technology information sheets to improve the quality of fruits for export in order to expand exports of ‘Sweet Gold’ kiwifruit produced in Jeju. Last year, the export volume of kiwifruit from Jeju was 162 tons, with an export value of $777,000, accounting for 28.4% of the total export of domestic kiwifruit (570 tons, $1.936 million). In particular, ‘Sweet Gold’, a domestically bred variety, is highly preferred by Japan and Malaysia due to its high sugar content compared to other varieties, and its export volume is steadily increasing from 27 tons in 2021 to 96 tons in 2023.
