Dry weather favors bean harvest in Rio Grande do Sul

Sowing of the first crop beans advanced in the Campos de Cima da Serra, the only region in Rio Grande do Sul with still relevant areas to be planted, according to the Conjunctural Report released by Emater/RS-Ascar on Thursday (05). In the other producing regions, the weather with a predominance of dry weather favored the progress of the harvest in the recent period. According to the survey, the rains occurred in a localized manner and with irregular distribution, which resulted in crops with distinct conditions, even in nearby locations. In the areas in vegetative development, which represent about 20% of the total, there are still no generalized impacts, although crops with signs of water deficiency are already being observed. Emater/RS-Ascar projects an area of 26,096 hectares for the first crop beans, with an estimated average productivity of 1,779 kilograms per hectare.
