Durian prices in Vietnam remain high post-Tet, with variations across regions. The durian industry is projected to thrive in 2024 due to high demand from China and Vietnam's year-round harvest. In 2023, durian exports earned 2.243 billion USD with an output of nearly 595,600 tons. Vietnam has 22 localities with durian packaging facility codes eligible for export to China, contributing to over 99% of the total export turnover. This surge in durian exports to China significantly contributed to the fruit and vegetable industry's export result of 5.6 billion USD.
