Despite high prices in Vietnam, the market share of Vietnamese durian in China is on the rise, with China's durian imports increasing by an average of 27.8% from 2019-2023. However, competition is intensifying as the Philippines and Malaysia are also preparing to export fresh durian to China. Improved delivery systems are expected to boost durian consumption in China, and by 2024, Vietnam's durian export turnover could reach approximately 3.5 billion USD. Global durian production is predicted to increase by up to 10% by 2030.
