As of March 4, 2024, durian prices in Vietnam remain high, with Ri6 and Thai durians priced at 142,000 VND/kg and 200,000 VND/kg respectively. The country has seen a significant increase in durian exports, reaching a turnover of 2.2 billion USD in 2023, a five-fold increase from the previous year. China is a major buyer, purchasing nearly 524,000 tons of durian from Vietnam. With 23 localities granted durian growing area codes by China for official export, and the potential of the durian market in China reaching 20 billion USD and globally 28.6 billion USD by 2025, there is a significant opportunity for the Vietnamese durian industry if it continues to develop sustainably.
